A useful pitch

Tell us the proposed subject, the central idea, who it may help and what the reader will understand or be able to decide afterward. Mention the format you have in mind and flag any experience or material the piece would depend on. We value a distinct angle over a long list of possible topics.

Our editorial fit

Pitches should be original, specific and honest about their limits. Avoid unsupported claims, disguised advertising and advice that depends on professional expertise or changing local requirements. We may suggest a different focus or decline a proposal that does not fit the publication.
